I first met Harry in 1967. He and I were both in the St Johns Ambulance Brigade, I was a Sheerness and he was I believe in Peckhan or New Cross division. He came to Sheerness with a large party from New Cross bus Garage during the summer holidays that year and they used our first aid post on the seafront as a base. I was the local liaison person. When during the course of the day he discovered that I was about to go to University at Kings College London, and that I was living just up the road from the flats where he lived and was caretaker he invited me round. Thus began a friendship spanning some 47 years.
